I just want to give this book a shoutout for being AMAZING. It is literally an encyclopedia for food styling. She has every food, what could happen to it, how to fix it, how to make it look best, and what products to use to fix it. This is extremely time saving for people like me who are new to food blogging and can reference everything before starting a recipe. Now, I haven't actually tried her different techniques but she's been in the business along time so I'm sure they are effective. Don't be scared off by the beginning which is very general info on styling in general. Get past that and you'll find the goods. Thanks, Delores!!

Use this book as a reference for food styling in our R&D lab. It has helped us improve our photography for Social media and print. Has an exhaustive list of tools, foods, preparation techniques, special effects (like condensation, steam, char, etc.), challenging situations, funny anecdotes from her past that can serve as bad examples or cautionary tales, propping, working with photographers, customers and for yourself, and many other topics. Like any reference, it has its perspective, and it's just one woman's eyes, but she's seen a lot so it's a valuable source of information. Be aware though that other perspectives are out there, and the market can and will shift so things that apply here as desirable may become dated but many of the tools and techniques will never change unless we start eating something entirely different...like pills or gels rather than real food. Like with any skill though, having the information doesn't guarantee success you've got to practice and apply your skills regularly or your results may decline.

Great Book, I Wish I Had It Years Ago!

I am not sure what the previous reviewer is talking about. The book does not come with a CD which is true. It does come with a code so you can download all the audio files from the internet. I downloaded them all in less than 5 minutes and it was no problem at all. You get high quality mp3 files. That aside, this book is great. I have been playing for 40 years and the only soloing tool in my tool box was the major/minor pentatonic scale. You can only go so far with that. This book teaches you when and how to add other elements to your soloing so that your performance really pops! Now I have many different soloing "tools" at my disposal, and that gives a tremendous amount of depth to my performance. Putting in arpeggios, modes, and scales really gives you a whole new sound. My band mates have been impressed with the change in my playing. This book is not for the beginner but aimed more at both the advanced and intermediate player. The examples and backing tracks are very high quality. This is not just a book of useful licks to memorize, although there are many tasty licks given. It teaches you when and how to apply different devices (scales, modes, arpeggios) to soloing situations. I wish I had this instruction years ago.

Outstanding book!!!!

Excellent resource for learning to play Blues Fusion lines!!! Audio samples are easily accessed from my Kindle Fire after creating a Hal Leonard account. I've only played a couple of examples but I'm very happy with what see. The author really knows his theory & can play a mean guitar. Be prepared to advance your skills because this book has some outstanding information!!!

About the Author
RICHARD N. BOLLES has led the job-search field for more than 40 years. A member of Mensa and the Society for Human Resource Management, he has been the keynote speaker at hundreds of conferences. Bolles holds a bachelor's degree cum laude in physics from Harvard University, a master's degree from General Theological (Episcopal) Seminary in New York City, and three honorary doctorates.

What I like most about the PARACHUTE series is the author. If you don’t know it already, it will be clear after reading this book, that Richard Bolles is PASSIONATE about job search and advancing careers. His passion for the subject shows up loud and clear in this latest installment in the series.

It is easy to see why this series has been so wildly successful. Honestly, you would be absolutely NUTS to not read this book (or a recent edition.) The author has extensive experience in the field, and backs up his ideas with impressive evidence. That is, the recommendations here are not theoretical—they are founded in decades of experience. Furthermore, the material in PARACHUTE is presented in a clear, easy to read format.

There is one priceless section--do not miss "Conversation Tips." The author knows WHY the interviewer is asking you certain questions! For example, Bolles notes in Tip #13 that "Employers don't care about your past; they only ask about it as a way to predict your FUTURE behavior.” If one knows what the interviewer is really looking for, you can plan accordingly.

The author warns the reader to watch out when the interviewer suggests, "Tell me about yourself." Bolles: "How you answer that question will determine your fate during the rest of the interview." This question if really a test of sorts, Bolles explains. What they are really doing is a sneaky way of asking, “What experience, skills, or knowledge do you have, that are relevant to the job I am trying to fill.” So, forget your hobbies and personal history--that's not relevant.

This edition has updated suggestions on how to best use social/networking sites. In LinkedIn, for example, Mr. Bolles points out the importance of completely filling out your user profile, so that prospective employers can get an accurate picture of your qualifications. Bolles notes that surveys always show that not having a picture is a turn-off.

Finding your mission in life will not be trivial--and it will not be quick. Despite the stress coming from a job search, being forced to find a job can have beneficial effects on our whole life. It offers "a chance to make some fundamental changes in our whole life. It marks a turning point in how we live our life."

I suspect many readers of prior editions will be wondering if this year’s edition is really all that different from recent editions. Is it really necessary to go out and buy the very latest model? In my opinion, if you have an edition just 1 or 2 years old, you are not missing much. Many of the changes in the “2017” version are related to internet services. For instance, the author includes the latest and greatest job search engines that were not listed in prior editions. As another example, the author includes updates to the very latest career counselors.

All in all, I found WHAT COLOR IS YOUR PARACHUTE 2017 to be an outstanding work. It continues the string of top-notch career guides by the #1 expert in the field. As Mr. Bolles explains at the end of the book, PARACHUTE is not written by committee—it is personally researched and written by the author. If you are serious about your career, you would be nuts to not read this book (or at least a recent edition.) Some of the appendices will certainly be controversial, because the author (a former Episcopal priest) makes his own religious beliefs clear. It is indeed very unusual for a job-search book to include exhortations on self-examination and one’s mission in life.

Helpful Book if You Want to Make a Career Change

I loved this book. I have been working on how to become an ex-lawyer for a while now and this book helped me find my way. After reading the book and learning new things about myself, namely my strengths and weaknesses, I made a career change. The book also helped me with my cover letter.

So much (clean) fun!!

This one is a new favorite for me! Sam(antha) is everything that I wish I could be, but I think I'm more like Colten. She's very spontaneous and full of life. After graduating from college, she has the summer off before she starts her new job in NYC and heads home to spend time with her family. After chauffeuring young Kajsa to a ranch, Sam sits down and makes a bucket list for the summer. What a FUN and creative list! I've tried to make a bucket list before and it just seems boring. Sam isn't afraid to try new things, but she is afraid from varying from her goals and lists.

Her first meeting with Colten the cowboy is hilarious. Colten is much more serious and is content with his life just the way it is. Who needs adventure and fun to change things up? Definitely not him. Sometimes opposites really do attract and two people become a good balance for each other. I love the way their personalities really come to life throughout the story.

I really loved the setting--a ranch in Colorado right during the summer! I love horses, but my youngest is the real horse lover in the family and Kajsa reminds me so much of her. I really enjoyed that aspect of the story--horses, training a wild mustang, ranch life, etc.

There were so many moments that had me smiling, laughing out loud, and just feeling plain old happy. Of course, there were some hard times too, but for the most part, this story is sunshine and rainbows and highly recommended for any and all clean romance lovers!

Content: clean kissing and nothing else of note.

LOVED IT!!

Loved it! Another awesome romance from author Rachael Anderson.
Rachael is one of my favorite authors and this book is a good example of why. Spontaneous Sam's bucket list for the summer includes learning to ride a horse, riding a bull in a rodeo and having a fling with a cowboy. Stick in the mud cowboy Colton McCoy may not seem like a perfect match but when he sets out to help Sam with her bucket list these two opposites may have more in common than anyone thought.
This book contains a wonderfully fun romantic story without any unneeded content. A squeaky clean read that I wholeheartedly endorse and highly recommend.

I feel as if I will be saying the same thing as I did in my previous review but here goes. I loved this book and I loved this series. I think, as I said in my previous review of book #2 that I would have loved a more complete look into the world of the family from book #2, especially our gal. We clearly had a look into the characters from book #1. I would also like to beg for the author to make a book #4. There has to be someone to bring into the mix. This is an enthralling book that takes one on an emotional roller-coaster.  Celeste the main character in the book is from the countryside of St. Thomas, Jamaica West Indies.  She migrated to the city to access her tertiary studies where she met and fell in love with Steven. After almost 13 years of being in an emotionally and physically abusive relationship, she found out that Steven was a con-artiste and that the life she lived was a conned one.

Celeste had two children for Steven.  These children were registered with the fictitious name given by Steven.  They knew of no other relatives from Steven's side but at his funeral would learn that they had upwards of 20 brothers and sisters. Celeste is now back and forth at the family court to have the children's name changed.

author_bio: Cecielia A. Wilson hails from the countryside district of St. Thomas, Jamaica. In the early 1990s she migrated to Kingston to pursue her tertiary studies.  She is a graduate of the University of the West Indies where she holds a BSc. in Human Resource Management.
Cecielia is an ardent believer of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the teachings of the Apostles.  She is a first-time author who also writes plays in her spare time.  Her biggest accomplishments are her three wonderful children.

a must read very touching and inspiring story of a once very naive girl who over came despite all odds; it will open your eyes as to the evil and cons of this world and the people in it.. it will have you on edge good job cecelia!!
